Special occasion coming up? Celebrate with dinner at The Rocks

For a special occasion you need a special location and there’s nowhere quite like The Rocks. Amidst the century old heritage buildings, on the edge of the Harbour you’ll find some of the best restaurants and bars in Sydney - perfect for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and graduations (or just the fact that it’s Friday!).

Make your night one to remember with the best special occasion dinners in The Rocks.

Sake

Sake Restaurant & Bar is one of Australia’s most awarded Japanese restaurants, serving traditional Japanese cuisine with a contemporary twist. Their menu includes elegantly executed sushi, alongside larger meals such as an impeccably marbled Tajima Wagyu striploin steak. If you’re not sure about what to order, grab the Omakase or ‘trust the chef’ menu, a five course banquet featuring all the highlights.

Pony Dining

Almost everything at Pony Dining is cooked on a blazing Argentinian wood fired grill. But this is not barbeque as you know it - this is contemporary Australian cuisine with a creative twist. The dining room is just as stunning as the menu, set in a historic sandstone building in Sydney’s oldest laneway.

Sergeant Lok

The 120 year old building that houses Sergeant Lok, one of Sydney’s best cocktail bars, was once the city’s biggest jail. The former jailhouse retains most of its character features and serves a luxe menu of delicious modern Asian cuisine, featuring highlights like herb oil blanched blue eye cod with chilli or salt and gunpowder squid with lime cheek. Unlike the building’s former occupants, you’ll want to stay all night.

Pancakes on The Rocks

It’s your special occasion, you can eat whatever you like - and that includes a gigantic stack of peanut butter and chocolate pancakes for dinner. Pancakes on the Rocks is a brilliant special occasion restaurant, perfect for all those big kids who still love pancakes.

Tayim

Tayim features a menu inspired by the Israeli street food chef Ran Kimelfeld loved when he was growing up, with an added twist of modern elegance. Meals like the 18 hours lamb shoulder on the bone with white bean masabacha express that concept perfectly and are unlike anything you’ll taste in Sydney. Plus the heritage location, golden sandstone walls and expansive wine menu don’t hurt either.

6 Head

Dining with a view is easily one of the best things to do in Sydney to celebrate any special occasion. Views don’t come much better than those from the expansive outdoor terrace at 6 Head, which opens up to the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. This luxury steakhouse is more than just a jaw dropping view though - their grain fed Wagyu steak MB6+ is known to be amongst Sydney’s best.
